The piece Tools was made in collaboration with Gong You Zhi Jia （工友之家）, an organisation which provides support for the local migrant worker community in Beijing.

In this piece, the community brought a variety of working tools which could then be dipped in paint and used to create abstracted patterns, which were also combined with natural forms.

These collaboratively made paintings were then taken by the GYZJ community and used for a variety of purposes: first, as a backdrop for community-lead theatre productions, and later as the backdrop to musical performances by migrant worker musicians.

These paintings were also shown in the Shanghai Biennale in 2016, as part of the ‘Infra Curatorial Exhibition’.
