Lighthouse (ii)

Lighthouse is an experimental project that intends to use art as a way to support biodiversity protection, by proposing a creative solution to the issue of birds colliding with buildings. Unlike humans, many birds are able to see UV light, meaning that glass coated with the right combination of UV reflective materials will prevent collision with glass.

This series shows ‘Lighthouse’ installed in various exhibition settings, rather than on the windows of buildings themselves (see Art for All for a larger installation). The exhibition offers an alternative context to introduce an audience to the bird collision issue, and the idea of designing from non-human perspectives.
