Kui

Kui was a series of several hundred hand painted sunflowers in Chinese ink. The series reflected on the symbolism of the sunflower –  which has had totally different symbolic meanings at different times in different cultures – as well as exploring a ‘maximalist’ way of creating art, through repetitive action. The piece was part of a series additionally exploring the relationship between the individual and the collective.
